GENESIS:

    -     Premananda Orphanage Centre was started after the terrible cyclone and floods in 1996, which devastated the entire Prakasam, East and west Godavari disticts. Thousands of people lost their lives and more than one hundred thousand people were left homeless. During this tragedy we organized emergency relief for the victims and were moved by the deplorable conditions of the children who have lost their parents in the disaster. They were practically left abandoned and uncared. We realized the need for a permanent rehabilitation for these  orphan children. We consulted our friends and well wishers who encouraged us to start an Orphanage to care for these helpless orphans. With the encouragement and support extended by our friends and well wishers both in India and abroad, permanent orphanage building has been constructed and the orphanage started functioning from June 1998 , with 60 orphan boys and girls aging 4-8. (More Photos) Realizing the need for the rehabilitation of economically  poor and socially oppressed communities children, our orphanage has opened its doors and embraced such children also. The Premananda ( Love & Joy ) Orphanage Centre was dedicated  to God for the service of the poor, destitute and orphan children by Rev. Fr. Chopparapu Jojaiah, the founder of the orphanage and it was  solemnly opened by Professor Jon H.James on 28th June 1998 in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, Southern India. Ongole is the capital of Prakasam district. The centre is a few miles inland from Bay of Bengal.
